WWE: 2014 Night of Champions

For WWE coming off a 'SummerSlam' that was fairly lackluster in this writer's mind we hope that they will make it right for the WWE Universe with 'Night of Champions.' The card shaped up quite nicely and here we preview the under card contest for the next special event on the WWE Network.

Peter Schifani:

Cesaro has gone through quite a rollercoaster of a year, winning the inaugural Andre The Giant memorial battle royal to losing several consecutive matches to Kofi Kingston. These two powerhouses hopefully will have a great match here that could shine on the bottom part of the card. New U.S. Champion Cesaro sounds good to me.

Mark Eddinger (Motorsports101):

Cesaro looked poised to hold a major title after 'WrestleMania' and then the tides turned and Cesaro has been losing more than winning of late. He took the loss by pin on Monday during Raw in a six-man tag match and I just don't see him knocking off Sheamus for the United States Championship in this match

WWE Tag-Team Championship

Jimmy and Jey (The Usos) versus Goldust and Stardust

Peter Schifani:

With the "Dust" brothers turning heel recently they seems poised to steal the tag-team titles (ie cosmic key) and may be start a long programs with The Usos. Eventually may be Mark Henry and Big Show get into the mix as well, but for now New Tag-Team Champions as well.

Mark Eddinger (Motorsports101):

I thought the Usos were going to drop the titles to The Wyatt Family but that did not happen. The next challengers are the brother duo of Goldust and Stardust who have turned heel. I think for the tag division to keep making progress the titles need to start changing hands and the Usos have held the championships for a long time. I'm picking Goldust and Stardust here

Divas Championship (Triple Threat Match)

Paige (C) versus AJ Lee versus Nikki Bella

Peter Schifani:

There was really no reason to insert Nikki Bella in this wonderful program between AJ Lee and Paige, and if so it would have been better as a fatale four way with Brie Bella as well. That being said I don't expect AJ to win back the Divas title just yet, Paige retains.

Mark Eddinger (Motorsports101):

This match would probably be better if it was a fatal four way and Brie Bella was also involved. Brie will probably still insert herself in the match and cost Nikki the win. So will the Divas Championship swap back to AJ or stay with Paige? It's a toss up but I'll say Paige retains

Mark Henry versus Rusev

Peter Schifani:

This budding feud wound up being given time right at the end of Monday Night Raw so may be this will be more than a one off where Rusev goes over Henry to build Rusev's "monster" credibility. We would hope for Mark Henry to finally shut up Lana, but not sure it happens here. Rusev wins.

Mark Eddinger (Motorsports101):

This match oddly was featured by closing out Raw on Monday with Mark Henry standing up for America and going toe to toe with Rusev and actually getting out of his submission move. I thought it would have been nice to see Jack Swagger beat Rusev but that did not happen. I think Rusev will finally taste defeat here and Mark Henry, the ex-Olympian, will pick up the win

Well there you go with our thoughts on 'Night of Champions' and the four matches that make up the lower half of the card. Tomorrow night we will preview the upper card contests including the rematch for the WWE World title.
